Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am very saddened to inform you that the Reverend Protopresbyter Demetrios Demopulos, fell asleep in the Lord at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Saturday afternoon.

He endured a long struggle with cancer, and courageously faced all difficulties with faith and hope in our merciful and compassionate Lord, Jesus Christ.

As we look forward in this season of the Great Fast to the glorious resurrection of Christ and His defeat of death by His own death, let us commend our brother, Demetrios, to the mercy of God and to the sure hope of a blessed resurrection.

The funeral services will take place at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and are as follows:

The Trisagion is scheduled for 7:00 pm, Sunday evening, March 25th at St. George Church

Vigil Psalm reading throughout the night.

The Funeral will commence at 10:00 am, Monday, March 26th, with internment at Fairview Cemetery.

Makaria at St. George following internment.

In lieu of flowers, Presvytera Meredith requests that you please consider making donations in Fr. Demetrios Demopulos’ name to support scholarships for men studying for the priesthood. Checks may be made payable to Hellenic College or Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and sent to:

Office of Institutional Advancement
Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology
50 Goddard Avenue Brookline, MA 02445-7496

Through a charitable gift, you can make a significant impact on the lives of students and the future of our Church. Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology’s primary objective is to prepare men for ordination to the holy priesthood, along with women and men for a life-long commitment of lay service to the church and to society, the impact of your gifts today will continue to be felt throughout the years to come.

St. George Greek Orthodox Church is a diverse congregation of believers worshiping Jesus Christ, serving each other, and reaching out to the Albuquerque community. The Orthodox faith is the ancient faith of the earliest Christians and the Orthodox Church traces her lineage back to the Apostles themselves. Our liturgical services have remained virtually unchanged since the early church. Though the history of our Church goes back 2,000 years, the foundation of our services remains the beauty and truth of the Gospel and its power to change lives. Whether you have a Christian background, a non-Christian background, or no religious heritage at all, St. George welcomes you and invites you to meet Christ who is the life of the world.

Please consider joining us for our weekly services:
Orthros on Sundays at 8:15 am,
and Divine Liturgy on Sundays at 9:30 am.
